Corporate Cultural Awareness Training

Wajaana Yaam Cultural Awareness training takes the participants through a journey of the experiences of Aboriginal people over the past thousands of years to today.

Clark Webb, the owner and operator of Wajaana Yaam Adventure tours, is a local Gumbaynggirr & Bundjalung man who has been an important part of local Gumbaynggirr language revitalisation in the Coffs Harbour area.

Training Options

We’ve designed our training to be flexible and impactful, with two options to choose from:

  1. Workplace Training: We bring the cultural awareness training to you, right in your workplace, and tailor it to fit your team’s needs.
  2. Combined Workplace and On-Country Session: Want to go beyond the office? This option lets you experience the powerful connection between land, language, and people by getting out on country and seeing how these elements are all linked.

Training Topics

Our training covers all the key topics, including:

  • Aboriginal History: Get to know the historical experiences that have shaped Aboriginal communities over thousands of years.
  • Cultural Foundations: Learn why culture, kinship, family, language, and land are so vital in Aboriginal life.
  • Challenges and Misconceptions: We’ll talk about the discrimination, stereotypes, and myths that Aboriginal people still face today.
  • Current Statistics: Understand the real-life social and economic conditions affecting Aboriginal communities right now.
  • Practical Strategies: We’ll give you practical ‘Where to From Here’ strategies for engaging with Aboriginal communities.
  • Creating a Culturally Safe Space: Learn how to make your workplace or classroom a welcoming and respectful environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Empowering Your Team: We’ll show you how to empower your team to build genuine relationships with Aboriginal clients.

Training Outcomes

By the end of our training, you’ll:

  • Have a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their history.
  • Walk away with practical tools to help you confidently engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Be ready to build stronger relationships with Aboriginal clients.

Our training goes beyond just sharing information. It’s about giving your team the tools and understanding to foster a more inclusive and culturally aware workplace or classroom. Whether you choose the workplace training or the on-country experience, Wajaana Yaam will support you every step of the way.
